Why Did Jesus Come?: Satan's Side of the Story

As you know, Satan is known as "the prince of this world." He rules the nations. But let's rewind to just before Christ was born....

And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it.
Revelation 12:4 (ESV)

Satan was precious to God. God called him "Morning Star, son of Dawn." He was the chief angel. So close to the Father. But he became jealous and full of pride (Isaiah 14:13-14). Now, we look at the time Jesus came. He was the promised King to rule all nations. Satan is ruler of the world but now the heir was about to be born. His power and position is threatened by this child and his mother. Woman who Satan deceived will be the vessel in which man will be given power to stop Satan in spreading his lies. A man will be born with power to be blameless and untouchable by sin. This man will also be the new ruler of all the nations. And Satan will do anything to make him fail because he wants to be the one on the throne. Satan has been called "the father of lies," and we expect him to do just that because every word he says is a lie! He tempted Jesus just as he tempted Eve.

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." God has always existed. Satan is a created being. All things have a beginning and an end, but God doesn't. God doesn't have a start and end, but Satan does because he is a created being. Just as the universe had a beginning, we have a beginning, and Satan has a beginning. As his rule on earth as a beginning it will also come to an end.

And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”
Revelation 12:10-12 (ESV)

So be on guard, for Satan is on the prowl roaring like a lion and making war on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus (Rev. 12:17).
