Covid-19 Conspiracies and Having Faith in the Storm

The pandemic has hit the Western world the hardest, mainly because of the mishandling of information given, distrust of the government and also greed. The mentality of some is putting the focus of 'wealth over health' rather than seeing the importance of stomping out the virus first in order to recover the economy. Temporary inconveniences are out of the question to the Westerner and his comfortable life.

He is not living the life he is used to. He may be living a harder life now because of the pandemic. I get it. We all are in this together. Business is shut down. You have bills to pay and kids to feed. We don't get to do the normal things we used to do. And the government is telling us what we can and cannot do. People only want to do what they like and agree with. They are selective in what they want to believe because if it's not what they want to hear they will choose the other information that they like better even when it's wrong and damaging in the long run. It's selective belief.

The Scientists say, "We don't need masks today."

I say, "That I do like."

The next day the Scientists say, "Well we need to wear masks today."

I say, "Well today you're saying something I don't like, and yesterday you said something I do like. So today I'll stick with what you said yesterday."

Science is an evolving practice. Just because science says something you like today doesn't mean you cannot believe him what he says tomorrow.

People in the West so easily believe in conspiracies. It's okay to talk about conspiracies and think about them. But it's not wise to just follow a conspiracy just because it best suits your beliefs. History has shown this problem in western society over and over, especially in North America. And according to people's belief and circumstances they choose to go against reality. They choose to listen to their heart and use God's word to support their belief.

The heart of man is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who knows it? (Jeremiah 17:9)

God knows the future. Some Christians are using God's word to support their personal beliefs. We start to live by our own thinking rather than what is reality. And we stop putting our faith in God but rather use Him as our ammunition to protest. In some cases, it turned into a war of US versus 'Big Brother' government. We are not following the will of God, but rather our own will to do what we want.

Temporary hardships are not what we are ready to accept. Put your faith in God and not your own thinking. God will surprise us when we put our faith in Him. You may look at your situation negatively, and you don't know why it's happening and how long it will last, but God is working in this and down the road you will see why. It's like a child asking "why" and being told by his father, "not now, when you're older you'll understand."
