Email: "I read what you had to say on women pastors and quite honestly my view has not changed in the least. Isn't God's will done in heaven as it is on earth? We are not defined by gender in heaven, why should we be on earth. The sons of God can also be female as well as male. Anyone who thinks a woman should not preach is sexist. Don't you think you should listen to her voice and words preached rather than judging her based upon what is under her clothes. Or is it that men find a woman preaching too distracting, just like how Muslims prefer their women to wear hoods. God forbid they ever speak! Sexism is a tool of the Devil himself! By the way, I am married to Christ. I submit to the Lord. Love, Erika P."
Response: So, you're saying that we are "not defined by gender in heaven" means that we do not have gender roles here on earth? That is bad logic and is very unbiblical.
May I ask how you know for a fact that we are not defined by gender in heaven? Do you have scripture for that? It may or may not be true, but you make an assumption and run with it without biblical support.
It is not sexist to declare what God has declared. It is you accusing God of sin when you openly contradict his word. God has said through Paul that a woman is not to teach or excercise authority over a man (1 Tim. 2:12) because Adam was created first (1 Tim. 2:13). He instructs us that this is how things are supposed to be in the church (1 Tim. 3:15). This is not a cultural issue. It is a doctrinal one since it is tied with the created order.
Now, when Titus 1:5-7 says that an elder is to be a husband of one wife, in the Greek that is "man of one woman." Doesn't it mean what it says? Are you saying that Paul must have been wrong?
Luke 9:23 is Christ's command to take up your cross daily and follow him. This is a serious thing. It is not right to say you're a Christian and yet openly refuse to follow his word by denying what he has taught, and justify it using the secular argument of "sexism."
You need to repent, believe God's word in this area, let your feelings be guided by scripture, and believe what God's word says.
