THAT was the former Archbishop of Canterbury? Wow his theology is out of whack! Listen to how he stupendously twists the meaning of the scripture. "Adam means earth, Eve: the mother living, seven days: that talks about perfection...that kind of thing." I dunno where in scripture it says that.
If I may put words in his mouth, Atkins starts off by saying that the Bible was written on ignorance as if it were the way to explain our existence at the time when we lacked the evidences, which we have today, to better explain our existence.
Atkins is right to say "you're intellectually lazy" He's right!
But, why do we always see these "academic" atheists always in debate with theologians? Why not debate the science with actual creationist scientists? This is just theory against theory and Atkins is attacking their credentials rather than the argument. That's bad argumentation. It's a false argument.
